Come From Away: The Must-See Musical
If your group includes first-time OSF visitors or anyone who claims they 'don't really like Shakespeare,' start here. Based on the true story of 7,000 stranded air travelers who found unexpected shelter in Gander, Newfoundland after 9/11, Come From Away is a Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical that leaves almost no audience member unmoved. Running March 14 through October 24 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre this show is one of the season's longest runs and should be accessible throughout the season.
A Midsummer Night's Dream: The Classic That Never Gets Old
OSF's opening production, directed by Marcela Lorca with original music by Justin Huertas, promises a visually enchanted take on Shakespeare's most beloved comedy. Running the full season (March 13–October 25), it's the most flexible show for group trip planning. Ideal for school groups and theater newcomers.
A Raisin in the Sun: Essential American Theater
Lorraine Hansberry's landmark drama, directed by OSF Artistic Director Tim Bond, runs March 15 through July 19. Fierce, urgent, and as relevant now as when it debuted in 1959. For groups interested in American drama, social history, or civil rights literature, this is the show. Book early as this performance has a shorter run than the Shakespeare productions.
Henry IV, Part One & The Taming of the Shrew: Shakespeare Under the Stars
Both running in the open-air Allen Elizabethan Theatre from June through October, these are OSF at its most cinematic. Henry IV explores power, rebellion, and the making of a king. Taming of the Shrew, directed by Shana Cooper, takes a bold look at gender and courtship. Seeing both in a single weekend gives groups the full outdoor theater experience that defines OSF in summer.
New Work: You Are Cordially Invited to the End of the World!
Keiko Green's raucous new comedy about climate anxiety, terminal illness, and family. Showing in the Thomas Theatre, April 16 through August 21. For groups who want something contemporary and unexpected, this is the 2026 dark horse.
When to Visit in 2026
Early spring (March–April): Smaller crowds, cooler weather, and the season's opening energy. Ideal for school groups who want pre-show talkbacks and educational programming with better availability.
Summer (June–August): Full company in residence, all three outdoor shows running simultaneously, and Ashland at its most festive. Peak season! Book hotel and tickets well in advance. High school and college groups are most active in this window.
Fall (September–October): The secret season. Smaller crowds, often the best seat availability, and the last performances of shows that close in October carry an emotional weight unique to repertory theater. Ideal for adult groups who want a more intimate experience.
