Queers & Gears Rolls Out with Pride and Pedals
Ashland’s new LGBTQ+ bike group celebrates its first ride
Last month marked the first official ride of Queers & Gears, Ashland’s brand new LGBTQ+ social bike group, and it couldn’t have gone better. With six riders and three more friends joining for the post-ride hangout at Skout Taphouse & Provisions, the energy was joyful, inclusive, and already shaping up to become a favorite monthly ritual.
The group pedaled a relaxed 3-mile route along the Bear Creek Greenway, ending at the southern terminus near Shop ‘n Kart before looping back. It was a no-drop ride, welcoming all levels and all types of bikes—e-bikes, 21-speeds, and even a single-speed burner made an appearance.
“We had an awesome first ride!” said Aubrey, the group’s leader. “Everyone did great, and it was such a fun mix of bikes and people.”
More than just a ride, Queers & Gears is about building community. Whether you're there to sweat, cruise, or just catch the social vibes afterward, all are welcome. The ride offers a relaxed space to connect with other LGBTQ+ folks in the Rogue Valley while enjoying the beauty of Ashland on two wheels.
Missed the first ride? No worries. Queers & Gears meets monthly, with routes and socials changing up to keep things interesting. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just want to dust off that cruiser in your garage, this is your invitation.
Our next ride is August 24th at 5:30PM behind The Columbia Hotel— wear your rainbow gear and come ride with pride!
