Heat Wave
An Art Show on Warmth, Weather, and a World on Fire
August First Friday, The Columbia Hotel's Lobby Lounge turns up the temperature. Heat Wave is an art show that lives in the space between sun-soaked summer nostalgia and the harder truth of a warming planet, featuring work from local and regional artists across multiple mediums.
Some pieces will feel like a perfect Ashland afternoon. Others will ask you to sit with something heavier. Both belong in the same room.
We ask our visitors one question:What does heat mean to you? Passion, rage, transformation, climate anxiety, or just the particular gold of an Ashland summer evening.
The answers are as wide open as the theme itself, spanning painting, photography, sculpture, textile, and mixed media.
Heat Wave continues The Columbia Hotel's tradition of using our historic 1910 walls as a platform for art that reflects Ashland's creative community and its conscious approach to hospitality.
